| The phenomenon of the amalgamation of immortal prostitutes in the legend of the Tang Dynasty is a literary phenomenon of particular interest,as well as a social and cultural mentality. In its surrealist form,it opens up an alternative space for writing about free love outside of the strict gender relations of ancient society, distinctly reflecting the literary conceptions and aesthetic attributes of the Tang literati community as a whole. The Tang literati show the free and spiritual side of women in their story texts to the fullest extent, and in the eyes of the male community, women move from the traditional functionality of bearing family responsibilities to the super-utilitarian nature of spiritual unity, reflecting This is a reflection of the progress of the personality of Tang society as a whole, and is of great importance to the overall study of the artistic connotations of the Tang saga, and indeed of the ancient Chinese novel.Based on the Tang legendary texts associated with the encyclopedia Tai ping Guang ji,I try to make a comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon of The fusion of fairy and prostitute imagery, and discern the common aesthetic mentality of the literati in the context of the social and cultural environment of the time, intending to provide a systematic and intuitive interpretation of this special literary phenomenon. The structure of this paper is roughly divided into the following parts:the introductory section is mainly a description of the origin of the selected topic, the current situation of the study and its research purpose, followed by the research methodology of this paper. The first part is a brief overview of the concept of fairy and prostitute and the process of the unification of fairy and prostitute;the second part introduces the manifestation of the unification of fairy and prostitute in the works of the legend of the Tang Dynasty, which are mainly divided into two categories,"fairyization of prostitutes" and "fairy prostitutes".In addition, among the "fairyization of prostitutes" there were also special cases of prostitutes and even ordinary women who were immortalized after death, and there is even a category of women who are not fairies or prostitutes in terms of their status, but their behavior is like fairies and prostitutes, and these two special cases will be discussed in this chapter. The third part mainly discusses the ambivalence of "love but not marriage, marriage but not love" among scholars, which is reflected in the phenomenon of confluence of fairy prostitutes. The authors of the legend of the Tang Dynasty often construct the characters in their literary works with their own spiritual aspirations and inner demands, and through their portrayals of fairy-like prostitutes and fairy-like prostitutes, they put forward their own ideals of marriage in the face of the repressive feudal system and their desire for free love. The forth of part is mainly to analyze the causes of the phenomenon of the merging of fairy and prostitute in this period in the light of the social and historical facts of the time, which I roughly divide into two aspects: objective reasons and subjective reasons. The subjective reasons are mainly about the creator’s feelings about the prostitute’s beauty, talent and emotions during his stay with her. Finally, the concluding part outlines the main idea of this paper.Since most of these works were created by male writers, the study of the phenomenon of amalgamation of immortals and prostitutes in Tang legends allows us to explore more deeply the real psychological state of male writers hidden under their works. On the one hand, this literary phenomenon contributed to the further expansion of the scope of the proposed immortals in the novels of Ming and Qing Dynasty on the other hand,it promoted the deepening of the theme of encounters with women in the novels of Ming and Qing Dynasty. |
