In recent years,as the incidence and prevalence of mental disorders continue to rise, the incidence of depression is trending towards lower age and higher recurrence. As adolescents are at a critical stage in their mental health development, the presence of depression is not only devastating to an individual’s psychological state in the present, but it can also extend throughout adolescence and even into adulthood. Therefore, the developmental mechanisms of depression in adolescents have been a major concern in the field of psychology.Although research has been conducted, the complexity of the mechanisms underlying depression requires further understanding of the characteristics of depression in adolescents and the mechanisms underlying depression in adolescents. In addition, with the use of digital technology in the fields of tele-medicine and tele-education,remote online psychological interventions have also gradually entered the public domain, but there are few studies on remote online psychological interventions, which need to be further explored. Therefore, this study investigates the mechanism of depression in junior high school students and uses a remote online intervention combined with the Satya intervention model to examine its effect on reducing depression levels in junior high school students. This study consists of two specific parts:Study 1: A total of 2163 valid subjects were randomly selected in Fujian Province and Shandong Province to explore the relationship between parent-child communication, family closeness, sense of meaning in life and depressive mood among junior high school students using the Meaning of Life Scale, the Flow Adjustment Centre Depression Scale, the Adolescent Parent-Child Communication Scale and the Family Intimacy and Adaptability Scale. The findings showed that:(1)The detection rate of depression among junior high school students was 36.66%;(2)There were significant differences in the demographic variables of parent-child communication, family closeness, sense of life meaning, and depression;(3)There was a two-way correlation between parent-child communication, family closeness, sense of life meaning, and depression;(4)Family closeness and sense of life meaning played a chain mediating role between parent-child communication and depression.Study 2: Based on the results of Study 1,the core variable of the intervention was the sense of meaningfulness of life, and the Satya Model was used to design a group psychological intervention program that fits the physical and mental development characteristics of junior high school students, and the remote online intervention was used to improve junior high school students’ sense of meaningfulness of life and thus reduce the level of depression.Twenty-six middle school students from a middle school in Fujian Province were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, and the experimental group was subjected to the intervention. The results of the study showed that the Satya Model tele-group psychological intervention improved the sense of meaning in life and reduced the level of depression among the junior high school students. This study extends the research on depression among junior high school students and provides theoretical support for interventions to improve depressive mood levels among junior high school students. In addition, through the first attempt of group psychological intervention using the Satya Model through remote online intervention,it was verified that the use of the Satya Model through remote online intervention is effective and feasible, and provides support for further exploration of the feasibility of diverse remote online group counselling interventions, which has important practical implications for research on interventions to improve depression levels in groups of junior high school students.
