The Research On Vadim Mezhuyev’s Theory Of Socialist Culture

Vadim Mezhuyev,the representative figure of Russian cultural Marxism,is also an expert in the field of cultural philosophy and social philosophy.Mezhuyev believes that the ultimate goal of socialism is individual freedom and liberation,and it is a "cultural space" for selfrealization.He refuted the distortion of the Soviet Union’s official deification and misreading of Marxism out of the need of politicization.On the basis of reflection,he interpreted the profound connotation of Marx’s texts from a cultural perspective.In this paper,Mezhuyev’s theory of socialist culture is explained and analyzed systematically from four aspects: problem origin,logical basis,theoretical construction and overall analysis.First,the paper analyzes the origin of the problem of Mezhuyev’s socialist cultural theory.The formation of Mezhuyev’s socialist cultural theory is closely related to the increasingly acute global problems after the end of the Cold War,the vigorous development of knowledge economy and the reconstruction of Russian Marxism.In the course of Mezhuyev’s thought,Marx and Engels’ cultural thought,Russian cultural philosophy,democratic socialism and so on all had different degrees of influence on the formation of his theory.Second,the thesis explores the logical basis of Mezhuyev’s theory of socialist culture.On the one hand,it reveals the distortion of Marxism by Soviet socialism from three angles:Marxism is not the root of Bolshevism;Oppose the ideologization of socialism;Denying Stalinism is equivalent to socialism.On the other hand,it shows that Mezhuyev,based on Marx’s view of history,innovatively interprets Marx’s theory of socialism from the perspective of culture,and thinks that socialism is a cultural theory first.Thirdly,the thesis expounds the theoretical construction of Mezhuyev’s socialist cultural theory.In the connotation interpretation,through "general labor" "social ownership" and "free time" to represent the socialist "cultural space";On the way of realization,Mezhuyev expected to realize cultural sharing,expansion of free time and continuous democratic improvement through the establishment of cultural ownership.Fourthly,the thesis evaluates Mezhuyev’s socialist cultural theory from the standpoint,viewpoint and method of Marxism.Mezhuyev’s theory of socialist culture has its unique perspective of innovation,but it is also "detached" from Marxist criticism of capitalist relations of production.We need to maintain an objective attitude towards Mezhuyev’s socialist cultural theory.
