Research On Exotic Travel In Chapter Novels Of Ming And Qing Dynasties

The description of exotic travel in the Ming and Qing Dynasties ’ chapter novels is rich in content.Such novels are mostly connected with the travel footprints of the previous generation of literati,reflecting the thinking of the Ming and Qing literati on the times,society and life.Based on the three works of ’ Journey to the West ’ and ’ Mirror Flower ’,this paper extends and other travel novels to show the similarities and differences of these works in terms of travel origin,literati mentality and narrative art,in order to explore the universal characteristics of exotic travel novels under the background of Ming and Qing Dynasties.From a diachronic perspective,travel activities include the records of travel activities in past dynasties and the interaction between travel creation and social trends of thought.As a cultural phenomenon,exotic travel reflects the differences in social features and humanistic psychology in different times.At the same time,the literati ’s imagination of exotic scenery and exotic life in the Ming and Qing Dynasties inherited and developed the records of different places in ancient classics.The driving force of exotic travel in the Ming and Qing Dynasties ’ chapter novels is related to religious practice,the promotion of national prestige and self-conversion,including the author ’s understanding of real life and the appearance of ideological spirit.The exotic description in the novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties also reflects the typical literati thoughts and cultural mentality in this period.The realistic elements in the works are in contrast to the ideal world constructed by the writer,which shows the writer ’s cultural examination and criticism of the society.The influence of Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism on the writing of exotic travel in the novel is obvious,showing some kind of consciousness of the writer ’s religious choice.The ideal Shangbang image displayed by the author of the novel through the mouth of the exotic characters,and his depiction of the exotic under the influence of the traditional thought of the heavenly dynasty,is the imperial writing and exotic depiction under the collective unconscious.These travel novels,which are typical of " Journey to the West " Sanbao eunuch ’s "Journey to the West," also reflect considerable characteristics in narrative art : in the plot design,the mode of preset plot is adopted,and each story unit is relatively independent,but it is related before and after.The description of exotic travel often has magic color,which enhances the strangeness of exotic experience;in the space-time construction of the novel,the movement of time and space is displayed through the depiction of the natural environment,the change of narrative time and the multi-dimensional three-dimensional space;the perspective transformation of ’ traveler ’ and ’ narrator ’ realizes the transformation of narrative focus.
