A Study On The Characteristics Of Discourse Markers "Zhe Me V Lai" And Teaching Suggestions

As a frequently used discourse marker,"Zhe me V Lai" has significant marking features and plays an important role in discourse coherence and interpersonal interaction.This paper analyzes and examines the discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai" from multiple perspectives,including the characteristics of discourse markers,discourse distribution,semantic relations and usage patterns,discourse functions,and strategies for teaching Chinese as a foreign language,using descriptive and explanatory methods and combining theories of conversation analysis,discourse linguistics and interaction linguistics.The text is divided into six parts.The introductory part focuses on the current research status of discourse markers at home and abroad,and discusses the basic research ideas of this paper from the aspects of research origin,research significance,and corpus sources.The second part describes the characteristics of "Zhe me V Lai" with reference to the criteria of discourse markers proposed by previous scholars,defines "Zhe me V Lai" as a discourse marker,and explains the role of "Zhe me".The analysis and categorization of the "V" that enters the structure of "V Lai",the subjectivization of "V Lai" and the specificity of "Lai" are discussed.The analysis of the subjectivity of "V Lai" and the specificity of "Lai" further illustrates the characteristics of the discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai".In addition,the usage pattern and semantic relations of the preceding and following items of the discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai" are analyzed and summarized.The third part analyzes the discourse distribution of the discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai",mainly exploring its syntactic distribution,discourse wheel position,sequence position and co-occurrence.The discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai" can be located before a single sentence,before a compound sentence,and within a compound sentence.In terms of discourse wheel position,it is mostly located at the beginning of the discourse wheel and in the middle of the discourse wheel.In terms of sequence position,it is mainly located in the response sequence.From the perspective of its co-occurrence,in terms of syntax,the subsequent co-occurrence of "Zhe me V Lai" is mainly in declarative and interrogative sentences;it can also co-occur with the word "that",hypothetical conjunctions and the word "is".The fourth part analyzes the discourse marker "so".The fourth part analyzes the discourse functions of the discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai".The discourse function of the discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai" is analyzed mainly from three aspects: interpersonal function,discourse function and conversational stance.We believe that "Zhe me V Lai" is a discourse marker with rich discourse functions,which can transfer and continue the discourse round,and continue and switch topics.In interpersonal interaction,it can express the speaker’s subjective speculation and subjective evaluation,delay the flow of speech,and draw attention.In terms of conversational stance expression,it is possible to express the unanimous stance of approval and agreement as well as the detached stance of expressing rhetorical questions.The fifth part is a discussion of how to teach the discourse based on the examination and analysis of the discourse marker "Zhe me V Lai" in the previous section.Finally,we summarize the research of this paper,and conclude that "Zhe me V Lai" has gradually evolved into a typical discourse marker with unique semantic features and distribution patterns in the discourse,and also has rich pragmatic functions.The shortcomings of the article are also pointed out.
