| English has always been one of the main subjects in our primary and secondary education.However,there have been many problems with the teaching of English in China.The Ministry of Education promulgated the English Curriculum Standards for General High Schools in 2017 and will make further revisions in 2020.The new standards suggest that high school English teaching should incorporate the concept of "discipline education" and cultivate students’ disciplinary core literacy,requiring high school English reading teaching to cultivate students’ reading literacy,i.e.to improve English reading ability and cultivate English reading character.However,the problems of classroom interaction,such as the lack of students’ subjectivity,teachers’ "full of questions",teaching activities that are detached from the text,and students’ lack of actual participation,have seriously hindered the cultivation of reading literacy in high school students.Based on the core concept of "student-centredness",this study attempts to focus on "communication and interaction" as the main theme of interactive reading teaching methods,creating multiple and effective classroom interactions between teachers and students,students and students,and effective information exchange and knowledge In this study,we examine the problems that exist in developing and improving students’ reading literacy in English language teaching.This study is oriented towards the teaching objectives of the new curriculum,based on constructivist theory and interaction theory,and adopts an interactive teaching approach with the aim of improving the English reading literacy of high school students.Through the research design,a three-month teaching practice was carried out in a high school in H city.The following question was to be addressed: Can the interactive teaching approach be effective in improving students’ reading literacy in high school English reading teaching in the context of the new curriculum? If so,how does it manifest itself specifically in terms of reading ability and reading character?This study uses questionnaire survey method,experimental research method and interview method to collect quantitative data and qualitative data,and applies SPSS to analyse the data,and draws the following conclusions: Under the background of new standards,interactive teaching method can effectively improve students’ reading literacy in high school English reading teaching.This is reflected in the following ways:(1)it can improve students’ reading ability-students’ English reading skills and strategies,English reading fluency and knowledge of English-speaking countries’ culture have been improved to different degrees;(2)it can develop students’ reading character-it stimulates students’ interest in reading,promotes the development of students’ reading habits,enhances students’ motivation and attitude towards reading,etc.At the same time,this study also yielded some pedagogical insights: using interactive teaching and learning to create thematic contexts for topic guidance;using student-student interaction to create equal opportunities for students of different levels to interact;using student-student interaction to develop students’ awareness of the discourse and to guide them to pay attention to the cultural and social context behind the content of the text.It is hoped that this paper will provide some suggestions and references for future research on the application of interactive teaching methods to the field of English teaching in the context of the new curriculum. |
