In the context of knowledge economy,the new mode of urban economic competition presents the competitive advantages of knowledge,skills and technology as the main characteristics.As a new product of the integration of cultural creativity and technological innovation,cultural and creative industries are conducive to enhancing the overall competitiveness of cities and regions.At present,it has gradually become one of the new highlight of global economic and industrial competition and the new driving forces of China’s national economic development.Cultural Development Plan for the 14 th Five-Year Plan Period proposes that cultural creativity,technological innovation and industrial integration should be used to generate new momentum for urban economic development,in order to more favourably support and drive national economic growth.The development of cultural and creative industries is inseparable from its regional conditions and economic foundation.With strong economic bases and profound cultural heritage,the Yangtze River Delta has laid a solid foundation for the development of cultural and creative industries and is developing into one of the highlands of China’s cultural and creative industries.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the competitiveness and driving factors of the cultural and creative industries in the Yangtze River Delta,in order to clarify the development advantages of the cultural and creative industries in the city,promote the transformation and upgrading of the regional economic structure and realize the high-quality development of modern service industries in the Yangtze River Delta.In December 2019,The Outline of the Yangtze River Delta Regional Integrated Development Plan proposed to build a modern cultural industry system and to promote the overall improvement of regional cultural creativity,competitiveness and its influencing power.This paper takes 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta as sample objects,and tries to build an index system for evaluating the competitiveness of cultural and creative industries based on the theory of industrial competitive advantage and the basic framework of the "diamond model" on the basis of sorting out relevant theories at home and abroad,focuses on analyzing the change trend of the competitiveness of cultural and creative industries of cities in the Yangtze River Delta from 2005 to 2020,and by using the sample year panel data of cultural and creative industries in Yangtze River Delta and system Generalized Method of Moment(sys-GMM),empirically analyzes the related mechanisms of its main driving factors.It is found that:(1)The competitiveness of cultural and creative industries in 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta tends to rise in general.Among them,the competitiveness of Shanghai’s cultural and creative industries is located at the highest level,but the outstanding advantages of its competitiveness have gradually weakened.The competitiveness of cultural and creative industries in Nanjing,Hangzhou and Suzhou are all on the rise.(2)The spatial differentiation of the competitiveness of cultural and creative industries in 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta is obvious.The competitiveness of cultural and creative industries in Nanjing and Hefei metropolitan areas is generally below the average level among the six metropolitan areas;the cities with the strongest competitiveness of cultural and creative industries are relatively concentrated in the areas around Shanghai.The cities with the weakest competitiveness of cultural and creative industries are mainly concentrated in Fuyang,Bozhou,Huainan,Huaibei,Bengbu and Suzhou in Anhui and Suqian and Xuzhou in Jiangsu.(3)Talent,technology and tolerance all have significant positive influence on the development of cultural and creative industries in cities in the Yangtze River Delta.Among them,the influence of tolerance factor is relatively the most prominent.
