| Career anxiety refers to the emotional response that arises when choosing a career or career development direction due to factors such as lack of confidence,insufficient information,or excessive pressure.In recent years,with the unstable employment situation and increased competition,more and more people are facing career anxiety.Career anxiety can have negative effects on individuals,such as affecting their emotions,socializing,and work performance.With the reform of the employment system for college graduates and the "expansion of enrollment" in colleges and universities,the number of graduates has increased significantly,resulting in increasingly fierce competition in the employment market for college graduates.Graduates experience great psychological pressure during the career selection process,and those who are severely affected may develop anxiety,which not only affects the mental health of college students but also affects their successful employment.Parental support in career-related matters refers to the various forms of support and assistance provided by parents during their children’s career development,including emotional support,informational support,resource support,and behavioral support.In the process of employment selection,college students who receive parental support in their careers can effectively reduce the anxiety they may feel due to their uncertainty about the future.Therefore,this study explores the relationship between parental support in career-related matters and career anxiety,and introduces two variables,core self-evaluation and career adaptability,to explore whether they play a chain mediation role in the relationship between parental support in career-related matters and career anxiety,in the hope of contributing to research on the relationship between parental support in career-related matters and career anxiety.This study used a questionnaire survey method and distributed questionnaires to676 college graduates in Jilin Province,using mature scales previously developed by other researchers,such as the Career-Related Parental Support Scale,the Core Self-Evaluation Scale,the Career Adaptability Scale,and the College Graduates’ Career Anxiety Questionnaire.Statistical methods were used to investigate the status of college students and test the hypothesis model based on the collected data.The research findings are as follows:(1)In terms of demographic variables,there were significant differences in career-related parental support,core self-evaluation,and career anxiety among college students based on their household registration location and whether they were only children;career adaptability among college students differed significantly based on household registration location.In addition,no other significant differences were observed.(2)The level of career-related parental support negatively affects the level of career anxiety among college students,that is,the higher the level of career-related parental support,the lower the level of career anxiety among college students.(3)The level of career-related parental support positively affects the level of core self-evaluation among college students,that is,the higher the level of career-related parental support,the higher the level of core self-evaluation among college students.(4)The level of career-related parental support positively affects the level of career adaptability among college students,that is,the higher the level of career-related parental support,the higher the level of career adaptability among college students.(5)The level of career adaptability negatively affects the level of career anxiety among college students,that is,the higher the level of career adaptability,the lower the level of career anxiety among college students.(6)Core self-evaluation and career adaptability play a chain mediation role between parental support in career-related matters and career anxiety,that is,college students who receive more parental support in their careers have higher levels of core self-evaluation,which in turn increases their level of career adaptability,thereby reducing their level of career anxiety. |
