Aligned with the “Healthy China 2030” initiative and amid the context of economic globalization,there has been a consistent increase in the demand for psychological informative texts.The translation of psychology texts holds a significant role in disseminating knowledge on psychology,fostering social stability,and facilitating international exchanges.This thesis concentrates on the translation of an excerpt from The History of Psychology,an informative text on psychology.It employs Toury’s theory of translation norms to examine cases in the translated text and deliberates on the specific translation techniques utilized in the translation of the text.This translation exercise has concluded that Toury’s theory of translation norms is a feasible approach for guiding the translation of psychological informative texts.The study discussed specific translation strategies that can be utilized in psychological informative texts based on the initial norm,preliminary norm,and operational norm in Toury’s theory,such as restructuring,division,and affirmative translation.
