On Varieties Of "Logical Form"

The concept of logical form plays an important role in logic,analytic philosophy,and linguistics.When characterizing the logical form of a natural language statement or argument,we encounter a problem: the same natural language statement or argument may have multiple different logical forms.This raises the question of what exactly logical form is and why the same natural language statement or argument may have multiple different logical forms.The term “logical form” is not commonly used in everyday communication,and its meaning and usage are not self-evident.Scholars have attempted to define logical form,but unfortunately they have not always reached a consensus.Based on the integration and review of relevant literature,this thesis attempts to grasp and reveal the diversity of the concept of “logical form” in different historical periods of logic and related application fields.Recognizing this fact not only allows us to understand the diversity of contemporary logic development from a different perspective,so as to make a more fair and reasonable evaluation of the effectiveness of natural language reasoning,but also helps us critically interpret some common problems in contemporary logic philosophy,and promote more practical and effective debates.
