The Use Of Totem Elements In Meticulous Figure Painting "The Miao Girl In Julan"

Miao totem is a pictorial expression of Miao people’s production and life,ideas and beliefs,emotional expression,and aesthetic needs.Miao culture maintains relative characteristics in Chinese culture.In order to better inherit and develop Miao culture today,contemporary people need to shoulder a responsibility.Miao theme meticulous brushwork figure painting is rooted in traditional Chinese meticulous brushwork,and conveys colorful Miao culture,unique human geography and original life with its own cultural characteristics,presenting the beauty of Miao culture.From the perspective of totem culture,with totem element as the main research object,this paper tries to apply the totem element of the Miao ethnic group in the creation of the meticulous figure painting "Ju LAN Miao Female",and explores the composition and color of the totem element of the Miao ethnic group and the meticulous figure of the Miao ethnic group in the painting,so as to make this theme erupt into contemporary works with the plane decoration aesthetic.At the same time,it will inject new vitality into the protection and inheritance of Miao culture.In the theoretical analysis part,the author firstly combs the totem studies of foreign scholars by literature analysis method,discusses the origin of totem from this point of view,and then sort out the memory of native land and westward migration,the memory of ancestors,and the recording of ancient myths and legends from folk stories and literature records,so as to support the discussion of the cultural connotation of Miao totem.Through image analysis and field investigation,many totems of the Miao ethnic group are listed,and the representative totems are summarized,which can be divided into four categories:plant pattern,animal pattern,human pattern and geometric pattern.The practical part is guided by the previous theoretical combing and analysis and the creative ideas of Kelan Miao Nu.It guides the specific creative implementation process and explores the application of Miao totem patterns in Kelan Miao Nu in practice.I experienced sketch design,extraction of totem elements,completion of drawings,and then entered the drawing and completion of works.I tried to apply the totem elements of the Miao ethnic group,and tried to make innovative works.Finally,the paper summarizes the feasibility of applying the totem element of Miao ethnic group to the creation of fine brushwork figure painting,discusses the problems to be avoided,and also provides some reference value for similar practices later.
