| The term “fans circle”,as a new kind of online speech community term,has gradually attracted the attention of scholars and aroused their interest in research.In this paper,we use sociolinguistic research methods to investigate the use of the term “fans circle” by residents of Baiyang Street in Qiantang District,Hangzhou(here in after referred to as “fans circle”)in their daily speech communication,and use IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0(here in after referred to as “SPSS 26.0”)to quantitatively analyze the results of the survey and to investigate the social factors and other factors that influence the use of “fans circle” terms by Baiyang residents,and to use Baiyang Street as an example to guide Baiyang residents to use “fans circle” terms correctly.The paper first defines the concepts of “fans circle” and terms of “fans circle”,and reviews the current status of research on the terms “fans circle” and “fans circle”.On this basis,the research questions of this paper are: 1.How do Baiyang residents use the term “fans circle” in their daily communication? What are the characteristics of the use of the term “fans circle”? What are the reasons that influence Baiyang residents’ use of“fans circle” terms? 2.What is the distribution of Baiyang residents’ use of “fans circle”terms and how do they tend to use them? Do they actively use “fans circle” terms? How do they use the terminology when communicating with different social partners?Secondly,we introduce the research content and methodology of this paper.Eight sets of vocabulary variables were selected as the main content of the survey“Survey on the use of terms in the‘fans circle’in Baiyang Street”,namely“情侣(couple)”variant,“中心(centre)”variant,“羡慕嫉妒(envy and jealousy)”variant,“偶像(idol)”variant,“对比(contrast)”variant,“加油(cheer)”variant,“喜欢(like)”variant,and“拍马屁(flatter)”variant,and used SPSS 26.0 and quantitative analysis using cross-tabulations and chi-square tests to analyse the use of the new variant of the“fans circle”term by Baiyang residents,and to explore the relationship between social factors such as“gender”,“age”,“education”and“class”and the use of each variant in each lexical variant.In addition,the distribution and tendency of Baiyang residents to use“fans circle”terms was analysed in terms of the frequency of multiple response variables,including the initiative of Baiyang residents in using“fans circle”terms,their use of“fans circle”terms in different contexts,and their use of“fans circle”terms in different situations.The analysis included the initiative of Baiyang residents in using“fans circle”terms,their use of“fans circle”terms in different situations,and their use of“fans circle”terms when communicating with different social partners,and explored the factors affecting the distribution and tendency of Baiyang residents in using“fans circle”terms.The study also explores the factors that influence the distribution and tendency of Baiyang residents to use“fans circle”terms.From the findings of the study,it is concluded that women are more likely than men to use the term “fans circle” in their daily communication,teenagers are more likely than middle-aged and older people to use the term “fans circle”,and students are more likely than other classes to use the term “fans circle”.“Gender”,“age group” and“class” are the most important factors influencing Baiyang residents’ use of “gender”,“age group” and “class” are the social factors that influence Baiyang residents’ use of“fans circle” terms in their daily communication.It is also concluded that Baiyang residents still tend to use “fans circle” terms in online social situations,but they also use “fans circle” terms in offline everyday conversations,and prefer to use “fans circle” terms when communicating with people of the same age group.When communicating with people in the same age group,they are more likely to use the term “fans circle”.Finally,the findings of the paper are summarised and the shortcomings of the study are clarified,and reasonable suggestions are made for building a harmonious speech environment in Baiyang Street. |
