| Parallel corpus has been widely proved to be greatly helpful for translation teaching because of its bilingual counterparts.Under the guidance of descriptive translation studies and corpus linguistics, the author conducts a teaching experiment of discourse translation based on a small corpus with Practical Discourse Translation by Ping Peng as the main corpus. The author mainly focuses on the sentences in the corpus involving several common translation techniques, such as voice conversion,noun/verb conversion, combination and division, together with machine translation post editing practice of some passages in the book,to study the positive effect of the corpus teaching mode on the teaching of discourse translation, mainly to verify the following hypotheses: 1)the self-built bilingual parallel corpus is applicable to the teaching of discourse translation, and the teaching effect of discourse translation under the corpus teaching mode is better than the traditional teaching mode;2)the self-built parallel corpus for discourse translation teaching helps students have a firmer grasp of the translation skills;3)the corpus teaching mode is conducive to students’ selection of appropriate translation strategies in discourse translation. The author applies the corpus mode for translation teaching in the experimental class, while the traditional mode for the control class. The study finds that the corpus mode makes the presentation of teaching materials convenient and fast, which greatly improves the efficiency of discourse translation teaching;the self-built parallel corpus is highly targeted, which helps to improve students’ translation ability through intensive learning of specific translation skills;students are exposed to richer learning materials in the same unit of time under the corpus model, which improves students’ ability to choose translation strategies. It can be expected that through continuous efforts, corpus will be a better tool for translation teaching in the future. |
