| Based on dependency syntax, this study built syntactically-annotated dependency treebank of main and temporal clauses in Chinese interlanguage,English and Chinese native language.Using comparative analysis, quantitative and qualitative research methods,it explored the syntactic complexity and the ordering distribution of main and temporal clauses and subordinators in Chinese interlanguage. At the same time, this study discussed the deep cognitive motivations for the ordering distribution preference of main and temporal clauses and subordinators of Chinese interlanguage from the perspective of syntactic processing. This thesis aimed to provide specific data references for learning and teaching of Chinese as a second language. The results showed that:(1)The syntactic complexity of Chinese interlanguage is lower than that of Chinese target language, but higher than English native language.Meanwhile, the main and temporal clauses of Chinese interlanguage has a tendency of dependency distance minimization.(2)Temporal clauses are preferred to be used in the initial position in Chinese interlanguage, which is close to the language ordering distribution pattern of Chinese target language. Moreover, the ordering distribution of subordinators in main and temporal clauses are preferred to be used in the final position in the Chinese interlanguage, which is consistent with the ordering distribution of subordinators in Chinese target language.(3)The mean dependency distance and the dependency distance of the joint relation of preceding temporal clauses are smaller than that of the postposed. The mean dependency distance and the dependency distance of the joint relation of postposed subordinators of main and temporal clauses are smaller than that of the preceding ones. The constraint of syntactic complexity on cognitive load of human brain is one of the cognitive motivations for the ordering distribution pattern of main and temporal clauses and subordinators in Chinese interlanguage. The high frequency prepositional tendency of clauses and the high frequency salient feather of postpositional subordinators in Chinese target language is one of the factors affecting the ordering distribution of main and temporal clauses and subordinators in Chinese interlanguage. This study explained the regularity feature of language structure on main and temporal clauses of Chinese interlanguage from the perspective of language typology by exploring syntactic complexity and the ordering distribution pattern of main and temporal clauses in Chinese interlanguage, provided a new perspective for explaining the ordering distribution of main and temporal clauses of Chinese interlanguage, and provided empirical reference for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The study has a certain value for promoting the development of International Chinese Education. |
