Research On Alain Badiou’s Aesthetics Of Cinematography

Alain Badiou’s philosophical thought and literary criticismare supplementary to each other,with the philosophical thought a prerequisite for literary criticism,while the literary criticism a part of philosophy thought supporting his philosophical system reversely.Based on his philosophical discourse system,Badiou has put forward a highly subversive literary thought of inaesthetics.The thought of inaesthetics attaches great importance to the status of art;it holds that art is independently from philosophy and opposes the traditional aesthetics control over the art.Badiou attempts to reconstruct a correlation between art and truth.He insists that a truth is an artistic procedure initiated by an event,and art is a producer of truths.He advocates to discover the intraphilosophical effect produced by the independent existence of some works of art.Aesthetics of cinematography plays an extremely important role in Badiou’s criticism.Badiou has been concerned about the cinema since his student days.His research began in1957,and his first paper on aesthetics of cinematography was The Cinematography Culture.As social realities changed,Badiou’s articles on the cinema were published mainly in three magazines: The Lightning Leaf in the 1970 s,The Parrot in the 1980 s and The Art of Cinema in the 1990 s.From a diachronic perspective,Badiou’s aesthetics of cinematography is influenced by historical environment,his own philosophy and his own political thought.From the stage of radical judgment,to the stage of wandering comment,and then to the stage of analyzing the theme of the cinema,Badiou’s aesthetics of cinematography became systematic.It has two core arguments: one is that the cinema is independent;the other is that the cinema can produce truth and show the existence of the world.From a syntemporal perspective,Badiou’s aesthetics of cinematography includes five aspects,that is,the cinema is a philosophical situation,showing two thoughts of time,absorbing other art forms and non-art forms,and showing social ethical thoughts.In addition,Badiou’s aesthetics of cinematography plays an important role in the development of the cinema,aesthetics of cinematography and inaesthetics.It not only confirms the value of the cinema,but also enriches aesthetics of cinematography and inaesthetics.
