With the development of economy and society, the mental health of young students has received more and more attention from the state.Although most schools are equipped with free and professional psychological counseling services, the proportion of young students with psychological problems seeking professional psychological help is still relatively small. From the perspective of young students’ attitude toward professional psychological help-seeking,this study explored the influence mechanism of public stigma,self-stigma and experiential avoidance on psychological help-seeking,and the intervention effect of group psychological counseling on improving young students’ attitude toward professional psychological help-seeking.Study 1: The relationship between public stigma,self-stigma,experiential avoidance and professional psychological help-seeking attitude of young students was explored by questionnaire survey.A total of 700 high school and college students were surveyed by convenience sampling method using the Attitude Scale for Seeking Professional Psychological Help, the Stigma Scale for Seeking Professional Psychological Help, and the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire(second edition). The results showed that:(1)there was a significant positive correlation between public stigma,self-stigma,experiential avoidance and professional psychological help-seeking attitude of young students;(2)Public stigma of young students’ psychological help-seeking can positively predict professional psychological help-seeking attitude;(3)The experiential avoidance and psychological help-seeking self-stigma played a chain mediating role between public stigma and professional psychological help-seeking attitude.Study 2: On the basis of study 1,32 young students were selected for group intervention,in an attempt to reduce the public stigma,self-stigma,experiential avoidance of psychological help seeking, and improve the attitude toward professional psychological help. The results showed that :(1)the public stigma of psychological help-seeking in the experimental group did not decrease significantly after group intervention;(2)After group intervention, the self-stigma,experiential avoidance and professional psychological help-seeking attitude of the experimental group all decreased significantly, and the post-test score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group.Conclusions:(1)there was a significant positive correlation between public stigma,self-stigma,experiential avoidance and professional psychological help-seeking attitude of young students;(2)Experiential avoidance can internalize the public stigma of help seeking into self-stigma of young students, and in turn affect their attitudes towards seeking professional help;(3)Group psychological counseling can effectively improve young students’ attitude towards seeking professional psychological help.
