| Reducing the burden of schoolwork is still the key direction of China’s education reform.In 2021,he put forward the "strictest" burden reduction policy in history-"Opinions on Further Reducing the Students’ Homework Burden and Off-school Training Burden in Compulsory Education",which once again pushed the topic of students’ homework burden onto the educational boom.At present,the heavy burden of schoolwork has seriously affected the physical and mental health of students,especially those in senior grades.English is a subject that people pay special attention to.Therefore,the paper adopts the methods of interview,questionnaire and literature research to investigate the current situation of the homework burden of English primary school students in grades five and six in a primary school in Linyi.The content of the survey is mainly in the three dimensions of homework test burden,curriculum burden and learning pressure.Based on the cognitive load theory,Analyze the gap between the policy implementation and the ideal state,and put forward optimization strategies for the English homework burden of senior primary school students.According to the survey data,the reasons for the heavy burden of English in the primary school are as follows:too many class hours,inappropriate use of multimedia,low participation of students in class,and improper teaching methods;The workload is large,the work is not stratified obviously,the work type is not innovative and practical enough,the autonomy of the work is ignored,the teaching materials are too many,and the number of tests is too many;Students’ learning initiative is poor,teachers and parents’ expectations are too high,students’ anxiety level is high,and students’ physical and mental fatigue needs attention.The corresponding optimization strategies are put forward.First,schools should improve teachers’ quality,change teachers’ educational concepts,optimize the evaluation of students,and reduce the frequency of examinations and teaching aids;Thirdly,the diversification of teaching design in the classroom,the scientific design of teaching materials,the improvement of multimedia teaching design,and the relaxed classroom atmosphere;Thirdly,in terms of operation,we should control the amount of operation,pay attention to the layering of operation and the autonomy of selecting operation,and optimize the operation design;Students should reasonably manage their time,expand the scope of knowledge,change students’ learning styles,improve psychological endurance,and train meta cognitive strategies;Finally,parents change their educational concepts,change their education methods,and strengthen home-school communication. |
