A Study Of Modal Particles In Dazhou Dialect,Sichuan

Modal particle is a function word attached to the end of a sentence to express the mood category.It plays an important role in people’s daily oral communication.It is not only an effective means of information transmission,but also an important carrier of emotional expression.Therefore,it has unique research value.This paper studies the modal particles of Dazhou dialect in Chengdu Chongqing area of Southwest Mandarin in Northeast Sichuan,describes the widely used state modal particles(5),interrogative modal particles(9)and modal modal modal particles(17),and points out their sentence pattern distribution,semantic characteristics and pragmatic value.Then,on the basis of Chengdu and Chongqing dialects,the basic characteristics of modal particles in Dazhou dialect are summarized:1.There are 8 unique modal particles that are not common in Chengdu dialect and Chongqing dialect,which are:situation modal particle "哒1[ta]2";Interrogative modal particle "样[ia?]4","哒 2[ta]2","吔3[iε]1";Modal modal particles”哒3[ta]3","喂 2[ue]2","(?)[uai]1","吔 3[ie]1".2.It is highly systematic,with many synonymous modal particles and detailed internal division of labor.3.Modal particles are used together in a rich and hierarchical way.When the combination is "modal modal particle+modal particle",the modal meaning expressed in the sentence is the superposition of the modal meanings of the two modal particles;In other cases,the modal meaning of the sentence is mostly given by the latter modal particle,and the modal focus is on the last modal particle.
