| The English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education(2022)points out that students’ language skills include understanding skills,such as listening,reading and looking.And expressive skills,such as speaking and writing.English reading occupies an important position as one of the language input methods.Despite this,the teaching style of English reading in junior middle school is not optimal.The reading instruction atmosphere has yet to be conducive to learning,and the approach to reading instruction has become inflexible.The production-oriented approach is mainly aimed at the status of academic separation in English teaching and low output quality of student output,which can solve the above problems more effectively.This research uses the production-oriented approach to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching English reading in junior middle school,which is based on the theory of production-oriented approach and combined with the teaching practice of English reading in junior middle school.According to the three links of output,driving and enabling,it is implemented in junior middle school English class to guide English reading teaching and explore its impact on students’ English reading motivation and reading performance.This study mainly studies the following three issues:1.What is the change of students’ reading motivation in the production-oriented approach English reading teaching in junior middle school?2.What is the effect of “production-oriented approach” on junior middle school students’ English reading achievement?3.How to effectively implement junior middle school English reading teaching based on the “production-oriented approach”?The teaching experiment of this study was conducted in two parallel classes in the first grade of a middle school in Hefei,Anhui Province.The two classes are randomly divided into experimental class and control class.There were 46 students in each class.The teaching experiment lasted for three months.In the teaching experiment,the traditional English reading teaching method and the production-oriented approach are used in the control class and the experimental class respectively.The author will collect data through questionnaires and reading tests,and analyze the research data with SPSS 26.0 after the experiment.Through the analysis of the data of reading tests and questionnaires before and after the experiment,the author found the following findings:1.After the teaching experiment,the overall reading motivation level of the students in the experimental class was significantly improved,and the motivation level in the three dimensions was higher than that before the experiment.2.Before the teaching experiment,there was no significant difference between the reading performance of the experimental class and the control class.After the experiment,the reading performance of the EC was slightly higher than that of the CC,and the score of post-test was obviously higher than pretest in EC which indicating that the English reading teaching model based on the production-oriented approach can improve students’ English reading performance.The author puts forward the following suggestions for the implementation of English reading teaching based on the “production-oriented approach”: Firstly,teachers should design communicative authentic output tasks and teaching activities according to the teaching objectives and the actual situation of students.Secondly,teachers should be guided by the output tasks and effectively combine input and output through the design of scientific reading activities,so that students can better output;Finally,teachers should work with students to design complete and reasonable evaluation criteria,so that students can fully understand the criteria of evaluation.And teachers should give full play to the role of immediate evaluation and delayed evaluation,implementing evaluation to promote learning in whole teaching process. |
