A Report On The C-E Translation Of Development Index Report On China’s Aviation Logistics Hubs (2020-2021) (Chapter 8)

Under the new pattern of development,the aviation economy is increasingly playing a prominent role in cultivating new economic growth poles,driving regional development,and deeply participating in international competition and cooperation.Development Index Report on China’s Aviation Logistics Hubs(2020-2021)systematically monitors and evaluates the development of China’s aviation logistics economy by building a perfect index system,perfects the analysis on the construction of ZAEZ,and puts forwards the suggestions for the development of ZAEZ,which are driving the whole economic development of Zhengzhou.This translation practice takes Chapter 8 “Zhengzhou Airport Logistics Hub under the New Pattern of Development” as the source text.This economic text as an informational text has the function of transmitting information and is characterized by many technical words and expressions,various sentence patterns,and a large amount of information.Newmark thinks that the text type is the decisive factor for translators to choose translation theory and translation strategies,and communicative translation is more appropriate for the translation of information text with the accuracy communication of ST message in TT as the criterion for evaluation.This practice report analyzes the difficulties and emphases in the translation of aviation economy text from lexical,syntactic,and textual levels through case studies,under the guidance of communicative translation: centering on the feelings of the target language readers,sharing the same feelings between the target language readers and the source language readers,and paying attention to the expression effect of the target text instead of being confined to the form of the source text.At the lexical level,the translator adopts literal translation,free translation,and lexical conversion to translate the technical terms,abbreviations,proper nouns,and high-frequency words and tries to find out the translation standards.At the syntactic level,for the null-subject sentences,the translator adds the agentive subjects or formal subjects,or transforms them into passive sentences;for the complex long sentences,analyzes and reorganizes to clarify the inner logic between clauses.At the textual level,the translator employs the methods of adding conjunctions and adopting the same patterns to maintain cohesion and coherence.At last,the translator finds the information of the source text has been better transmitted through these translation strategies and methods from the perspective of communicative translation to achieve the purpose of cultural communication.This translation practice applies communicative translation in the translation of text in the field of aviation logistics,hoping to provide certain ideas and methods for the English translation of such texts,and at the same time making a modest contribution to the cultural exchange in the field of aviation logistics.At the same time,the author also notices the limitation of this practice report and puts forwards some suggestions.
