As the output link of English learning,writing can reflect students’ comprehensive language ability to a certain extent,so English writing is an important part of English learning.Applied writing is a genre that comes from life and has a wide range of uses.It is very practical.It is very necessary for high school students to master the writing of the applied genre.In recent years,the theory of constructive has been continuously integrated with the teaching of foreign language writing in my country.With the in-depth study of writing teaching,genre awareness has become a new perspective to study applied writing.Because genre awareness can promote students to understand the relationship between text communicative purposes and text features from the level of applied text,it is very necessary to develop genre awareness.From the perspective of genre awareness,this research investigates and analyzes the specific manifestations of the weak sense of genre in high school students’ applied writing.The purpose of this study is to answer the following two questions:(1)What are the specific manifestations of the weak sense of genre in high school students’ applied writing?(2)How to improve the current situation that high school students have weak sense of genre in applied writing? In this study,a total of 141 students from 3 classes were randomly selected from the first grade of the No.1 Senior High School in Xichuan County,Henan Province,and 10 large essays of this grade were also selected for analysis.Through the questionnaire survey method,case analysis method and interview method,we can understand the current situation of the weak awareness of the genre of applied writing among high school students.Combined with the analysis of the survey data,this study draws the following conclusions:(1)The weak sense of genre in applied writing of senior high school students is mainly manifested in three aspects: language,context and function.(2)Teachers can improve their teaching level by adopting genre teaching method,genre game method and combination of reading and writing.Students can improve the writing level of applied writing by taking English and American original texts as examples to consolidate the foundation and cultivate genre awareness.Schools can increase the proportion of writing courses,set up school-based courses and enrich evaluation methods,so as to give students more opportunities to practice applied writing.This research provides a certain reference value for understanding the current situation of the weak sense of genre among high school students,and has a certain enlightenment effect on improving the teaching of the weak sense of genre in high school students’ applied writing ability.
