Study On Zeng Xi’s Calligraphy Copying Method

Zeng Xi,e Xi(1861-1930)word ziji,evening number of nong Beard,to number line,Hengyang,Hunan.In 1915,li Ruiqing invited him to sell his books for a living.In his later years,he became famous for his profound calligraphy skills and his works,which were both neat and square,soft and graceful.Zeng Xi as the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China tablet school book wind typical representative,like to learn "Stone Drum wen","Xia Cheng","Huashan",deep "crane Ming","Zhang Heinu" round pen spirit,since the number "South Zong";Li Ruiqing likes to learn ding Yi,Shimen stone carving,and is familiar with the Northern school strokes of Zheng Daozhao and Cuanglongyan.Since his name is "Beizong",the calligraphy of Zeng and Li is called "Nan Zeng beili",and "Wu Changshuo,Huang Binhong and Li Ruiqing" are also called "Four masters of the Republic of China".At present,the academia of Shanghai artists fostered numerous eminent people like wu changshuo,and,at the same time Shen Zeng plant and rui-qing li books,paintings,related research has become a fashionable,xie for Zeng Xi research since its 1930 have been in a state of silence until the 1980 s,since 1988 Wang Qichu wrote "calligraphic art experiences Zeng Nong’s whisker" when it appeared in the journal book spectrum,Zeng Xi and his calligraphy gradually returned to people’s vision.In recent years,the academic study of Zeng Xi focused primarily on Zeng Xi’s life,friends,artistic achievement and its old age art education activities,etc.,as the 2013 "Zeng Xi Shu Fa Ji",2016 "Zeng Xi pu Chang Bian",2021 "Zeng Xi calligraphy research such as book publishing,further promote the study of Zeng Xi and the art of calligraphy.Copying is not only the basis of learning calligraphy but also an important way to temper individual style and find a breakthrough.Throughout the works of Zeng Xi’s life,there are a large number of copying works in each stage,in these copying works,there is an interesting phenomenon,that is,in Zeng Xi’s pen,copying is creation,creation is also copying.This paper is divided into four parts to study Zeng Xi and his calligraphy from the perspective of copying.The first part of the article through the literature review,from the life of Zeng Xi,friends,experience and other aspects of zeng Xi’s growth environment and art process are discussed.The second part discusses the inheritance of he Shaoji’s thought of "zhuan is different from one spirit" and the reference of his brushwork.As the focus of this paper,the third part compares zeng Xi’s copying creation with the original monument and the original post through image analysis,and explores the changes of zeng Xi’s understanding in the process of copying,as well as the approaches and characteristics of copying method.The fourth part reveals the enlightenment of Zeng Xi’s copying method to the study and creation of contemporary calligraphy.The formation of Zeng Xi’s unique style of writing comes from his unique life experience and profound education,supplemented by extensive and in-depth copying,which is integrated into each body.The successful experience of his calligraphy philosophy and calligraphy copying method is of positive significance to the practice of calligraphy art today,and provides a new concept and method for our calligraphy learning,which is worth learning and inheriting.
