In recent years,with the continuous advancement of globalization and the continuous improvement of China’s international influence,the number of people learning Chinese in countries around the world is increasing.International Chinese teachers play an important role in intercultural communication and teaching.At the same time,it also poses challenges to teachers’ intercultural communication ability.Intercultural communication competence is not only the core competence that teachers should possess,but also a comprehensive competence,which includes understanding and mastering intercultural communication knowledge and skills,as well as the awareness and attitude to actively cope with different cultures.Through questionnaires and interviews,this paper aims to understand the current situation of intercultural communication competence of international Chinese teachers,analyze the factors that affect teachers’ intercultural communication competence,and put forward relevant suggestions for the improvement of international Chinese teachers’ intercultural communication competence.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the significance of the topic selection,research overview,research content,research methods,research ideas,research difficulties and the innovation of this paper.The second part is an overview of intercultural communicative competence,which mainly introduces the connotation of intercultural communicative competence,and gives a detailed introduction to the specific content of each dimension of intercultural communicative competence.The third part presents the design of questionnaire and interview for intercultural communication competence of international Chinese teachers,and carries out statistics on the results of questionnaire and interview.The fourth part mainly uses SPSS software to analyze the differences from four aspects: gender,working status,overseas experience and working hours in international Chinese teaching,and explores the factors that affect the intercultural communication ability of Chinese teachers.The fifth part is based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of teachers’ intercultural communicative competence,and puts forward suggestions on improving intercultural communicative competence.Through analysis,it is found that in terms of intercultural communication knowledge,teachers have limited channels to understand intercultural communication knowledge,teachers themselves lack the initiative to understand intercultural communication knowledge,and teachers who have never been abroad have certain deficiencies in the mastery of language communication knowledge.In terms of intercultural communication skills,training school teachers and overseas volunteers still need to further improve intercultural teaching skills;In the aspect of intercultural communication attitude,attention should be paid to the psychological state of overseas volunteers.In addition,there is a contradiction between the training demands of teachers on intercultural communication competence and the actual training content they have received.Some teachers have not received relevant training,and they cannot correctly judge their intercultural communication competence.The above problems need to arouse the attention of teachers themselves,teaching schools and language integration center.
