In the historical period in which capitalism passes from free competition to monopoly,in which the bourgeoisie holds the basic means of production,the apparatus of state power,and the religious parasitic class,which serves as a tool for deceiving and deceiving thousands of oppressed armies,brutally enslave millions of working people,Lafargue does his best to introduce Marxism to the masses of working people.He propagated his religious criticism and tried to get the working masses out of the psychedelic trap of religion.The spread and development of Marxist philosophy are inseparable from the efforts of other Marxists.If we ignore the study of their philosophical thoughts and practical activities,we cannot fully reproduce the whole picture of the development history of Marxist philosophy,and it is difficult to fully reveal the regularity of its development.Lafargue’s contribution to the critical thought of religion is an important part and research topic in the history of Marxist philosophy.In-depth study of Lafargue’s critical thought of religion and its position in the history of Marxist philosophy is helpful to deepen our understanding of the essence and connotation of Marx’s religious view and to construct the ideological theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics.It will also help Chinese society better deal with religious issues.Lafargue’s criticism of religion generally includes the following three core contents:First,Lafargue also believes that religion is a false ideology.Compared with the lack of elaboration on the source of religion in the past,Lafargue focuses on the source of religious ideas.Second,Lafargue argues that the function of religion to maintain capitalist rule is more hidden than in the past,mainly through some unreasonable doctrinal and moral manifestations.For example,religion requires people to suppress their desires and give up their rights to produce "fanatical labor" in order to better exploit the workers.Finally,Lafargue proposed a realistic path to eliminate religious ideology.Violent revolution still dominates,but at the same time,it can assist cultural and political means to achieve the purpose of eliminating religion.Lafargue’s theory extends Marx’s alienation to endless "fanatical labor" in terms of religious origin,depends the role of religion as the "tool" of the ruling class in terms of religious function,and on the issue of the extinction of religion,on the basis of Marx’s violent revolutionary path,it first proposes the cultural revolution of propagating "scientific atheism".Although Lafargue’s critical theory of religion has some theoretical limitations,it still extends Marx’s critical thought of religion to a large extent,and makes Marxist religious thought further spread in the Second International.
