On The Zhou Zuoren’s Natural History Writing In 1930s

Natural history is a scientific discipline concerned with zoology,botany,and mineralogy.Since the late Qing Dynasty,as a kind of foreign " new knowledge",natural history gradually appeared in new schools and newspapers.Zhou Zuoren ’s natural history writing can be used as a perspective of the interaction between Western natural history and Chinese natural history tradition,and also reflects his own writing posture and many changes in the literary world in the 1930s.This article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses Zhou Zuoren ’s interest in natural history.Taking Looking at Clouds as a node,the subsequent articles showed a shift from "emotion" to"knowledge".This attribute of " knowledge" became an important distinguishing feature of natural history writing in the 1930s.Zhou Zuoren’s love for natural resources is not only his personal preference,but also his family origin.The second chapter focuses on Zhou Zuoren’s dynamic process from reading" to"writing".First of all,natural history writing originated from the dialogue between Zhou Zuoren and ancient books.The behavior of reading and copying reflects his mental state,but also continue of the " text-derived tradition" of traditional Chinese natural history.Secondly,Zhou Zuoren ’s natural history writing was generated in the Beijing School" group,which has the influence of its external environment;Zhou Zuoren’s interpretation of Hua Jing and Hao Yixing also shows Sense of reality outside the tradition of the text.The third chapter uses " science" as the key word to discuss the complexity of the relationship between "natural history" and "science" in Zhou Zuoren’s works.Left-wing science sketches and Zhou Zuoren ’s natural history are written under the common name of"science" and have the common tendency of "daily".This difference shows that the scientific component of Zhou Zuoren ’s natural history writing is rooted in the Confucian tradition.The remaining part summarizes the content,method and the significance of this article.It indicates the unfinished efforts of this article,and also further thinks about the growing point of this academic topic.
