A Report On The English To Chinese Translation Of The Anxiety Reset(Excerpts)under The Guidance Of The Communicative Translation Theory

Due to the accelerated pace of life and the uncertainty of social existence in today’s society,most people are faced with anxiety as a mental disorder.Therefore,it is particularly important to know how anxiety exerts the impact on human mental health.The Anxiety Reset is written to address the most common and prominent contemporary psychological problem about anxiety.It analyzes the psychological nature of anxiety and its symptoms from multiple perspectives including biology,genetics and psychology.The author then points out the methods and approaches to manage anxiety on account of a large number of clinical cases.The Anxiety Reset is extremely valuable for contemporary people from all walks of life who are suffering from the problem of anxiety.Based on the translation of the first four chapters of The Anxiety Reset,this translation report analyzed and discussed the guidance of communicative translation theory on the translation of popular science texts.It also explored the problems at the lexical,syntactic and textual level,and put forward the translation strategies and techniques to solve these problems under the guidance of communicative translation theory.At the lexical level,conversion,amplification,and free translation are adopted;at the syntactic level,restructuring,converting the passive voice into the active and division are adopted;at the level of text,the problems of coherence and cohesion of logical relations in the translation are dealt with.Through this translation practice,the translator’s translation ability was improved,as well as the ability to combine theory and practice,and to apply various translation methods and techniques.It is expected to provide some references for translators of other popular science texts,and draw more attention of our society to the issue of anxiety.
