| English articles appear frequently in English learning and are one of the important test points of college entrance examination.Owing to the complexity of the knowledge point system and rules,the article is difficult to learn and teach.The study focuses in the acquisition of English articles by senior high school students.Take the senior high school English curriculum 2017 and new curriculum reform 2021 as the background.Based on the theory of article choice parameter,error analysis and language transfer,the study discusses the current situation of students in the process of article acquisition,focuses on the difficulties in the acquisition of articles and analyzes the reasons for these difficulties.And then,the study provides some pedagogical strategies.The specific research questions are as follows:1)What are the characteristics of senior school students’ acquisition of English articles? What are the specific manifestations?2)What are the difficulties that students are confronted with in the acquisition of the English articles? What are the characteristics of those difficulties?3)What are the reasons lying behind these errors?The study selects 51 senior school students from a middle school in Chongqing as the research subjects.The purpose is to explore the characteristics of the article acquisition and the error’s feature through the pretest and the post-test.Through the questionnaire,it explores the factors behind these errors.After sorting and analyzing the data,the following three conclusions are drawn:Firstly,The characteristics in the acquisition of English articles are as follows:Overall,Article acquisition is positively correlated with the students’ English level.Students tend to confuse the usage of generic and specific reference;Then,in the aspect of specific reference,students tend to confuse the use of anaphoric and cataphoric reference.Secondly,there are three aspects of errors that students often make in the process of acquiring articles.They are redundancy,omission,and misordering.Among them,article misordering occur most frequently.The error rate of misordering is 42%.The error rate of redundancy is 29%,and omission is 29%.Thirdly,there are several reasons lying behind students’ errors in the process of article acquisition.The main reason is intralingual transfer.And there are also some other reasons such as interlingual transfer,students’ learning motivation and classroom environment.Based on the analysis and research,the study put forward following recommendations.In the process of the students’ acquisition of articles,teachers can help them to adopt metacognitive learning strategies.In teaching strategies,teachers can use inductive and deductive methods to carry out targeted teaching. |
