The large-scale study of Virginia Woolf’s feminist thought began with the feminist movement in the 1970 s.Thirty years after her suicide,Woolf was quickly established as a model for feminists. But because of this political movement, her feminist thought has also been misread and deviated. One of the reasons for these misreadings was that some scholars did not pay attention to the dynamic development process of her feminist thought. They regarded her 30-year literary career as a static research anchor which led to the unneutral problem of Woolf’s feminist thought research, and caused controversy. In order to solve this problem,it is necessary to go back to the original Woolf’s feminist thought. Her letters and diaries which have not received enough attention are the first-hand materials.Matching these materials with Woolf’s novels, essays and other literary texts in chronological order,we can see a process of Woolf’s feminist thought: from being repressed by tradition to transcending the gender conflict,to radicalization in the end.The changing of these characteristics is not only the proof that Woolf has been influenced by the external environment, but also the reflection of the growth process of her feminist thought itself. It can be found that Woolf’s feminist thought experienced three distinct stages: in the early stage,Woolf was suppressed by the patriarchal culture due to the Victorian family education, social psychology, and the timidity of entering the literary world;after gaining a certain social status and wealth,Woolf, who actively participated in political activities, proposed the theory of androgyny which was the markstone of the maturity of her feminist thought; In the late stage, the world war made Woolf’s cultural intercommunicating break through the boundaries of nations. Her feminist thoughts gradually turned to anti-war and anti-violence.At the very end of her literary career, she put forward the radical view that "women have no countries".From the perspective of dynamic development, the thesis sorts out the whole process of the changing of Woolf’s feminist thought, restores the historical scene, summarizes the characteristics of the stages, and uses her literary works as arguments. Also, the article refutes those one-sided views in her feminist thought research, and provides a new way to solve the existing controversy in Woolf’s research.
