The Development And Application Of A Questionnaire Measuring Discrimination Perception Of Community Correction Objects

With the promulgation and implementation of the Community Correction Law of the People’s Republic of China,the number of community correction objects is bound to surge.Stigmatization of the community correction objects and the resulting discrimination have also become an important problem to be solved in the implementation of the community correction System Law.Studies on discrimination in recent years have been conducted from the perspective of the discriminated on how the discriminated perceive discrimination,which named the perception of discrimination.There are few researches on discrimination perception for community correction objects.The concept and connotation of “community correction objects discrimination perception" have not been really clarified.There is also a lack of tools with good reliability and validity to measure the discrimination perception of the community correction objects.This study is expected to construct the basic connotation and framework of the discrimination perception of community correction subjects from the perspective of local culture,and to develop a measurement tool of it for community correction staff to use in practice.Finally,according to the relevant research results,put forward targeted intervention,hoping to be of some help to the specific implementation of the “Community Correction Law.”This study is composed of three parts.The first research is in order to explore the theoretical framework of perceived discrimination of the community correction objects.Study two is to form a questionnaire on perceived discrimination of community correction subjects.The third study aims to investigate the status and influencing factors of perceived discrimination of community correction subjects.The main conclusions of this study are as follows(1)The discrimination perception of community correction objects is divided into the perception of individual discrimination and the perception of group discrimination.The core category of the perception of individual discrimination is defined as "the sum of the perceived self-discrimination,fear of exposure,social discrimination and occupational discrimination of the objects in community correction".The core category of the perception of group discrimination is defined as "the sum of social exclusion and offspring discrimination".(2)The individual discrimination perception scale and group discrimination perception scale of community correction objects have good reliability and validity.The consistency coefficient of the total score of the individual discrimination perception questionnaire is 0.928,and that of the group discrimination perception questionnaire is 0.898.The validity indexes of the two sub-questionnaires are good and could reflect the discrimination perception of community correction objects effectively.(3)The result shows that there are significant differences in the dimension of worry exposure of community correction subjects on the level of education.The community correction object with bachelor degree or above is significantly higher than the object with junior high school(contain technical secondary school)and high school/vocational schools degree.There are significant differences in the dimension of self-discrimination,social discrimination and offspring discrimination on marital status.(4)The intervention measures start from two aspects.On the one hand,we need to intervene with the community correction subjects themselves.Through psychological counseling,group counseling and other means to improve their sense of self-worth and establish certain social support.On the other hand,from the perspective of objective discrimination,through the improvement of laws and systems,to better protect the objects of community correction from discrimination in employment and other aspects.Through the cooperation of these two aspects,it can reduce the discrimination perception of the community correction objects and help them re-socialize better.
