Research On Green Brick Tea Industry On The Republic Of China (1912-1938)

From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China,black brick tea was a famous variety for export and border sales,which occupied an important position in the development pattern of Chinese tea industry.Yangloudong is the main producing area of green brick tea.It is of great significance to study the history of Chinese tea industry,trade history and the social and economic history of the middle reaches of Yangtze River to explore the rise and fall of the tea industry in this area in modern times.After Hankou was opened as a port,under the operation of Jin merchants and Russian merchants,the Yangloudong black brick tea industry entered a flourishing period until the early years of the Republic of China,but during this period,Russian merchants gradually gained the dominant position in the industry.After the October Revolution,the export sales encountered difficulties,and the green brick tea industry gradually declined.In the period of the Republic of China,the technology of making woolen tea and teabag tea in the tea industry was no different from that in the late Qing Dynasty.Thanks to the use of large machines,brick tea production technology is more advanced than in the previous Qing Dynasty.In the 1930 s,due to Russia’s control of export sales,backward production technology and management experience,and sluggish trade between China and Russia,the development of green brick tea industry fell into difficulties again.In order to change this situation,at that time,Yang Lou Dong rose the tea industry improvement movement.However,under the intervention of various factors,the implementation of the improvement experiment is not smooth.After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War,the blue brick tea industry was fading,and the attempt to improve it came to an end.
