| Since the implementation of China’s "One Belt,One Road" initiative, more and more foreign friends have started to learn Chinese, and the influence of the Chinese language in the world is growing. In recent years,Madagascar has also seen a wave of Chinese language students.By the end of 2017,the Confucius Institute at the University of Antananarivo had registered more than 12,000 students, and the number of Chinese language learners has been growing. The students generally feel that their Chinese language skills are improving rapidly, but they still feel overwhelmed by the writing of Chinese characters. In response to this problem, the author decided to conduct online classroom observation and follow-up with students in two intermediate classes in Madagascar, and collected a large corpus of Chinese character writing errors. This paper focuses on the learning of Chinese characters for foreigners, and uses the error analysis theory to analyze the writing error of Malagasy intermediate learners in terms of strokes, parts, and structures. The author then explores the causes of the errors, and finally proposes suggestions for improvement around the causes of the errors. The author hopes that this paper can help intermediate level Chinese learners improve their Chinese writing skills and also provide some ideas for teaching Chinese characters to foreign students. |
