| China is currently in a period of accelerated aging, and the continuous growth in the elderly population has made the issue of healthy elderly care a hot topic.Under the dual influence of massive population mobility and rapid social development, the number of elderly mental patients is increasing.Depression symptom, with high incidence rate,is a relatively common and typical mental problem among the elderly. At the same time, with the frequent flow and migration of population, the form of families in China is gradually shifting towards miniaturization.Whether in urban or rural areas, the number of one-person household is constantly increasing, and the proportion of elderly people living alone is also gradually amplifying. Thus the impact of elderly people’s residential status on their depression symptoms is gradually becoming an important issue that scholars are paying attention to.At present, there is controversy, mainly in two aspects, about the impact of residential status on depression symptoms in elderly people: "Can the residential status of elderly people directly affect their depression symptoms" and "What are the differences in depression symptoms among elderly people with different residential status".Also researches on the mechanism of that impact in elderly people are still insufficient. Therefore, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods, this paper attempts to explore whether the residential status of the elderly can directly affect their depressive symptoms in the context of aging;what differences exist in the depressive symptoms of the elderly with different living status;and the impact mechanism on the basis of the established relationship. The first study explored public database CLHLS2018,mainly used statistical methods such as stratified linear regression, multiple linear regression and chi square test to investigate the impact of elderly people’s residential status on their depressive symptoms, and to explore the influencing mechanism. And the second study used qualitative interview to conduct psychological talking with 20 elderly people,in order to verify living status on depression symptoms and its mechanism, also improve its mechanism. The third study collected 550 questionnaires to re-examine the impact of elderly people’s residential status on depressive symptoms and its influencing mechanism. This paper draws the following conclusions:(1)In the context of aging, the living status of elderly people can significantly affect their depressive symptoms, the depressive symptoms of elderly people who live alone are more severe.(2)Social support plays a partial mediating role between the seniors’ living status and their depressive symptoms. |
