| As one of the important methods of language learning,reading is also an important way for people to get information and increase the ability of thinking,so as to understand the world and appreciate the beauty.English Reading can help children increase their vocabulary and grammar knowledge,and develop their abilities of listening,speaking,reading and writing.In the process of English reading,students are able to learn knowledge and skills through thinking activities such as prediction,analysis,generalization,evaluation,and innovation,which can promote their development of cognitive ability and critical thinking.However,the English textbooks provide limited learning resources.Students need to read more to satisfy their demands of cognitive development and language learning in different periods.The introduction of English graded reading materials meets the needs of students.In recent years,many schools have conducted some research and practice on English graded reading,and have also begun to introduce advanced teaching models and methods from abroad,but there are still some problems in the teaching of English graded reading in China.Therefore,through the research of English graded reading and critical thinking at home and abroad,based on Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives,this paper selected the fifth grade students and English teachers of Art Primary School of Jinshui District,Zhengzhou as the research subjects,which school has carried out the teaching of English graded reading.In order to explore how to cultivate students’ critical thinking with English graded reading in primary school,the author distributed questionnaires and interviewed 5 English teachers to get the current situation of English graded reading and existing problems of critical thinking cultivation in this school.After the investigation,the author also collected some teaching samples,so as to provide some suggestions for the current problems in the teaching of critical thinking and English graded reading in primary school.Through the present situation investigation,the author found that due to the bias of teachers’ teaching concepts,there were many problems in the teaching of English graded reading.In class,students don’t have the opportunity and time to think independently.Therefore,it is difficult to develop their reading ability in the classroom.Based on the research,this paper suggests that in the teaching of English graded reading in primary school,teachers need to raise effective questions and design a scaffold to guide students to connect the text to real life,and encourage students to express their own views actively.That will be conducive to the cultivation of students’ critical thinking and innovative thinking. |
