| The "Opinions on Further Reducing Students’ Homework Burden and Off-campus Training Burden"(hereinafter referred to as the "double reduction" policy)issued by the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council proposed to reduce students’ homework burden and improve the effectiveness of homework.However,in reality,many primary school English teachers often focus on teaching in class,but ignore the importance of homework,which leads to problems such as boring and ineffective homework,so students are not motivated to complete English homework.Therefore,homework-related research under the background of " "double reduction" policy is very necessary.Meanwhile,the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)emphasizes the importance of modern information technology,and proposes to integrate "Internet +" into teaching,promote the combination of online and offline learning,and improve the efficiency of English learning.Blended homework is a form of homework that combines online and offline homework.On the basis of online and offline learning(i.e.Blended learning),it uses the rich learning resources on the Internet platform to promote the integration of modern information technology and English teaching.Based on the above background,under the guidance of Constructivism,First Principles of Instruction,and Zone of Proximal Development Theory,the author conducts an action study on blended English homework in high grades of primary school with students from Class 1,Grade 5 of a primary school as the research object.This paper mainly studies the following three questions:(1)Can blended English homework reduce students’ learning burden and improve their enthusiasm for completing English homework?(2)Can blended English homework improve the effectiveness of English homework?(3)How to design and assign blended English homework in high grade of primary school? The author first searched and read a large number of relevant documents,and then developed an action plan according to the teaching content and the results of the student questionnaire.Next,the first round of action research were carried out.Then the author reflected on the results of student interviews and revised the action plan to carry out the second round of action research.In the course of action research,two student questionnaires and interview results were used to answer the research questions,as well as to compare English test results and English homework completion before and after the implementation of blended homework.After a semester of action research,the results of questionnaires and interviews show that blended English homework can improve their enthusiasm for doing English homework and reduce high-grade primary school students’ English learning burden.According to the English homework record,the author finds that after implementing blended English homework,the students’ English homework completion rate and accuracy have improved;The author also compares the results of English tests before and after the implementation of blended English homework,and finds that the average score,pass rate,and excellent rate of students’ English tests have significantly improved,indicating that blended English homework can improve the effectiveness of English homework.Through continuous reflection and summary,a blended homework model for high grade students in primary schools has been formed,and it is expected to provide practical experience in blended homework for primary school English teachers and enrich blended homework research. |
