| This study focuses on teachers and students from Qingdao No.39 Middle School in Qingdao,Shandong Province.Through a questionnaire survey,the study analyzes in depth the design and implementation of evaluation activities in middle school English reading classrooms.Based on relevant literature review and teaching experience integration,a design framework for reading class evaluation activities is proposed to promote students’ core competence development.Classes 3 and 4 in Grade 8 were selected as the teaching practice objects for the design and implementation of evaluation activities,providing targeted and referenceable teaching cases for the construction of an integrated "Teaching-Learning-Evaluation" middle school English reading classroom.The results of the questionnaire survey and interviews indicate that the current evaluation status in middle school English reading classrooms is characterized by unclear evaluation objectives,a single evaluation method,a focus on summative evaluation rather than formative evaluation,insufficient use of evaluation to promote student learning,and inadequate emphasis on improving students’ core competence.In the design of classroom evaluation activities,the guiding role of learning objectives is often overlooked,resulting in low evaluation efficiency.How to design and implement evaluation activities for reading classes to promote students’ learning progress,improve classroom learning efficiency,and enhance students’ core competence development is a current challenge for English reading classes.Based on the current situation,this study aims to explore how to design evaluation activities to promote students’ core competence development.Focusing on middle school English reading classrooms,the study designs a framework for reading class evaluation activities,hoping to promote students’ core competence development through the implementation of evaluation activities.Specifically,the research questions include:(1)What is the role of the design of evaluation activities in reading classes in improving students’ core competence?(2)What kind of evaluation activities can be designed to promote students’ core competence development?This study combines the interpretation of evaluation and the requirements for students’ core competence development in the "Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2022 Edition)".Based on the analysis of the current evaluation status and students’ learning situation in reading classes,and the results of data analysis and research,the study analyzes the design elements of evaluation activities and designs a framework for evaluation activities.On the basis of theoretical research,teaching practice was carried out.After the experiment,data collected through interviews,questionnaire surveys,and post-tests were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the evaluation activity design in promoting students’ core competence development,and specific evaluation cases were provided.Through the experiment and analysis,the researcher found that the application of evaluation activities in the reading class is conducive to promoting students’ English learning and developing their core competence.The author distributed questionnaires and pre-and post-tests before and after the experiment,analyzed the collected data,and supplemented it with interview results.The conclusion was drawn that after nearly one semester of implementing core competency evaluation activities,students’ reading comprehension ability and classroom performance have improved,their confidence in English learning has increased,and their core competence have been developed to a certain extent.Therefore,it can be seen that the design of evaluation activities plays an important role in the junior high school English reading class.To promote the improvement of students’ learning efficiency,the teachers should pay attention to process evaluation and use various evaluation tools to assist students in self-evaluation.The evaluation activity framework for English reading classes designed in this study is a practical and feasible evaluation strategy proposed based on analyzing the current evaluation status of middle school English reading classes and the requirements for students’ core competence development.It can help teachers better organize classroom teaching activities.This study has important theoretical significance and enlightenment for subsequent research on English reading class evaluation,and to some extent can provide a evaluation model for English teachers,promote their design ability of classroom evaluation activities,and ultimately promote the improvement of classroom learning efficiency. |
