Chen Xianzhang initiated a new chapter in the study of mind in Ming Dynasty,established “Jiangmen School”,which had a profound influence on Lingnan culture.Chen Xianzhang failed three imperial examinations in his life,but he never forgot his political responsibilities.In this paper,the author mainly relies on “The Complete Works of Chen Xianzhang” edited by Chen’s disciples,to sort out and interpret the specific connotations of Chen Xianzhang’s political ethical thoughts.The article first delves into Chen Xianzhang’s life and the background of his political ethical thoughts,clarifying his life experience,political and cultural background,and analyzing the reasons for the formation of his political ethical thoughts.The first part explores the philosophical foundation of Chen Xianzhang’s political ethical thoughts.On based of the ontology of “The unity of mind and tao” and the thought of “Nature as the ultimate truth”.Chen Xianzhang proposed the theory of innate goodness,but he does not deny that environmental factors have an effect on individuals.The second part elaborates on the main content of Chen Xianzhang’s political ethical thoughts by focusing on the moral principles of the three political entities: monarch,officials,and people.Finally,the paper discusses the contemporary value and limitations of Chen Xianzhang’s political ethical thoughts.
