Gilles Deleuze(1925-1995)is one of the most important contemporary French philosophers.Theory of Becoming is one of Deleuze’s important theories,and literature and life is one of Deleuze’s important themes on literature.Based on Deleuze’s theory of becoming,this thesis analyzes and studies two Children’s literature works,Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There,by the British writer Lewis Carroll(1832-1898).This thesis mainly includes the following sections: The first chapter is the introduction section,which mainly analyzes the current research background and clarifies the significance,purpose and methods of writing this thesis.The second chapter is the literature review section,which provides a detailed review of the multi perspective interpretations of Deleuze’s thought and its theory of becoming by domestic and foreign scholars.It reviews the current research on Carroll’s works and points out the problems and shortcomings that exist in current research.Chapters 3,4and 5 are the main section of the thesis,which providing an overview of Deleuze’s theory of becoming and studying the presentation and application of the theory in both works.The third chapter traces the theme of being and becoming since ancient Greece,sorts out the foundation and context of Deleuze’s theory of becoming and summarizes the basic principles of theory of becoming and the proposition of literature and life.The fourth and fifth chapters adopt text analysis method,which analyzing and studying Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland from four aspects: becoming elements,becoming basis,becoming mechanism,and becoming meaning;For the analysis of Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There,this thesis focuses on the non-linear characteristics of plot structure,the diversity of character portrayal and the mapping of novel language.It based on theory of becoming to analyze the philosophical implications in Carroll’s works.Chapter 6 is the conclusion section,which mainly summarizes the main content of this thesis and provides prospects for future research.
