| Cambodia is a country along the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" and one of the earliest practitioners of the "the Belt and Road" initiative.In recent years,the exchanges and interactions between China and Cambodia in political,economic,cultural,and other aspects have continued to deepen.The Cambodian government and all sectors of society have strongly supported the development of Chinese language education,greatly enhancing the level of language recognition of Cambodian nationals towards Chinese.However,since the COVID-19 epidemic,international Chinese education has been impacted to a certain extent.Although the epidemic has ended,we do not know how Cambodian Chinese learners identify with Chinese.This paper mainly investigates Cambodian Chinese learners’ identification with Chinese and analyzes its influencing factors.This article examines the Chinese language identity of Chinese learners from three dimensions: language cognition,language emotional attitude,and language behavior.Each dimension has 4 descriptions,a total of 12 descriptions.The degree of Chinese learners’ identification with the Chinese language is judged based on the degree of their identification with these 12 descriptions.Taking the Confucius Institute of the Royal Cambodian Academy of Sciences as an example,a questionnaire survey was conducted on 201 students’ Chinese language identity,their level of Chinese language identity was statistically analyzed,and factors that may affect their Chinese language identity,such as cultural identity,learning motivation,gender,age,educational background,occupation,language level,were investigated separately,SPSSAU data analysis software is used to analyze the impact of these factors on language identity,with emphasis on the impact of cultural identity and learning motivation on Chinese identity.Through questionnaire survey and data analysis,it is found that the respondents have a high degree of identification with Chinese in terms of language cognition and emotional attitude,but a low degree of identification with Chinese in terms of language behavior.This is related to the current situation that the number of junior level students in Confucius Institutes is more than that of senior and middle level students.After analyzing the influencing factors,it is found that there is a significant positive correlation between the degree of Chinese cultural identity of Chinese learners and the degree of Chinese identity.There is also a significant positive correlation between the level of integrative learning motivation and the degree of Chinese identity,while instrumental learning motivation is not related to the level of Chinese identity.Among other general individual influencing factors,male students have a higher degree of identification with Chinese than female students,and students and students in education and training related industries have a higher degree of identification with Chinese than Chinese learners in other industries.There is a positive correlation between Chinese proficiency,age,educational level,length of study,and Chinese identification,while there is a negative correlation between English proficiency and Chinese identification,Whether you have been to China has no impact on Chinese identity.Finally,based on the above situation,this article puts forward corresponding suggestions and strategies on how to improve the Chinese language recognition of Cambodian Chinese language learners,proposes effective suggestions and measures for improving Chinese language teaching,helps Cambodian Chinese language learners understand Chinese more correctly and learn Chinese more efficiently,thereby providing reference for how to improve the Chinese language recognition of students at the Confucius Institute of the Royal Academy of Sciences and even the Chinese language teaching in Cambodia as a whole. |
