A Study On The Theory Of Sense Of Freedom In Critique Of Judgmen | | Posted on:2024-05-18 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:J Y Lu | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555307112456064 | Subject:Aesthetics | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Freedom is the core concept of Kant’s philosophy,a red thread running through Kant’s three great critiques.There are three kinds of concept of freedom in Kant’s philosophical system,namely transcendental freedom,practical freedom,and a sense of freedom.The concept of freedom is expressed in the Critique of Judgment as a sense of freedom.The sense of freedom is a perceptual freedom,which exists in reflective judgment and is caused by the pleasant feeling of intellectual and imagination or the free coordination of reason and imagination in reflective judgment.This article’s argument for a sense of freedom is roughly divided into three steps:The first step is to analyze the three kinds of the concept of freedom and determine the place of the sense of freedom in the concept of freedom.The second step is to analyze the a priori structure of aesthetic judgments and determine the a priori basis for a sense of freedom.Aesthetic judgment is divided into judgment of beauty and judgment of the sublime.In the judgment of beauty,the a priori basis of the sense of freedom is the free play of imagination and intellect;In the judgment of the sublime,the a priori basis of the sense of freedom is the imagination’s efforts to expand itself to reason.When analyzing the structure of the judgment of beauty,combined with the debate on this issue in the academic circles,this paper puts forward the view of looking at the problem of judgment and pleasure from the two levels of time and logic,and explains the structure of judgment of taste on this basis.The third step is to analyze the moral significance of a sense of freedom.Kant’s ultimate value orientation is still morality,and the sense of freedom is only the way to ultimate morality or practical freedom.This article argues that there are three ways to reach morality through a sense of freedom: judgment of the sublime,the beauty of nature,and the beauty of fine art.Through the above arguments,we can find that Kant used the sense of freedom to reconstruct the relationship between beauty and morality,so that beauty gained a relatively independent status and retained the connection between beauty and morality.It is thus concluded that in Kant’s system,the sense of freedom is central to beauty. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Critique of Judgment, Sense of Freedom, Judgment of Taste, Sublime, Imagination | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
