The academic achievement of secondary school students is the most direct reflection of students’ learning status, and it is also a hot topic of concern for parents, teachers, schools and the society,so it is of practical significance to explore the factors influencing the academic achievement of secondary school students. The influence of parenting education on secondary school students’ academic achievement is crucial, among which parenting attitude and parenting style are important factors influencing secondary school students’ academic achievement, but the current research mainly explores the relationship between parenting style and academic achievement from the perspective of children, and there is a lack of research on the influence of parenting attitude. In this paper,we combine two influencing factors, parenting attitude and parenting style, and hope to use more effective measurement tools and analysis methods to explore the relationship between parenting attitude, parenting style and secondary school students’ academic achievement more comprehensively and deeply from the perspectives of parents and children respectively.First, the literature review revealed that there are few instruments that can comprehensively measure parenting attitudes of secondary school students. In this study,we adapted a questionnaire for measuring parenting attitudes of secondary school students in Jiangxi Province and examined the structure of parenting attitudes, including three dimensions: behavioral tendencies, emotional experiences, and cognitive levels. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were found to be good.Secondly, this study used parenting attitudes and styles and secondary school students’ academic achievement as research variables, and analyzed the Parenting Attitudes Questionnaire,Parenting Styles Questionnaire, and Secondary School Students’ Academic Achievement Questionnaire based on Rasch model using RUMM2030 software, and obtained parameters such as item distribution and subject position through parameter estimation and fit test, which proved that the Rasch model has some applicability for studying parenting attitudes, styles and academic achievement. Finally, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to explore the relationship between parenting attitudes and styles and academic achievement of secondary school students. The results of the study found that:(1)There were significant differences in cognitive level, behavioral tendency and emotional experience in parenting attitudes among high and low subgroups of secondary school students’ academic achievement, and the high subgroup was significantly higher than the low subgroup;there were significant differences in emotional warmth of fathers and emotional warmth of mothers in parenting styles, and the high subgroup was significantly higher than the low subgroup.(2)All dimensions of parenting attitudes were significantly related to secondary school students’ academic achievement, and regression analysis found that cognitive level could positively predict secondary school students’ academic achievement.(3)Father’s emotional warmth in parenting style was significantly and positively correlated with secondary school students’ academic achievement;mother’s rejection and emotional warmth were significantly correlated with secondary school students’ academic achievement;regression analysis found that father’s emotional warmth and mother’s emotional warmth could positively predict secondary school students’ academic achievement.(4)Analysis and comparison from children’s and parents’ perspectives showed that the importance of children’s education was higher in parents’ perspective than in children’s perspective.
