The Chain Mediating Mechanism And Difference Of The Influence Of Over-parenting On Two Types Of Internet Addiction In Junior Middle School Students | | Posted on:2024-05-29 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:C L Luo | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555307112971639 | Subject:Applied psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | With the acceleration of the network process and the popularization of the network,people’s dependence on the network is also increasing.Teenagers are still at a critical stage of development,and their understanding and correct use of the network need to be improved.The youth group is in the “Severe disaster area” of Internet addiction,which will bring serious physical and psychological harm.Through the integrated perspective of how individuals interact with the environment,this study aims to explore the possible chain mediating role of parent-child attachment and basic psychological needs in the relationship between parents’ over-parenting and adolescents’ social networking addiction and gaming addiction,and to examine the differences in the mechanism of over-parenting on social networking addiction and gaming addiction.In order to investigate the role of parent-child attachment and basic psychological needs in over-parenting and adolescent social networking addiction and gaming addiction.The data of 499 middle school students were collected in the first and second studies by cross-sectional design and questionnaire survey.Study 1 shows that over-parenting can negatively predict social networking addiction by positively predicting parent-child attachment or basic psychological needs,especially autonomy needs.The results of study 2 show that over-parenting can positively predict parentchild attachment or autonomy need and thus negatively predict the addiction of online games,and can also negatively predict gaming addiction through parent-child attachment and the need for autonomy in turn.Combining the results of Study 1 and Study 2,the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Parent-child attachment plays a mediating role in over-parenting and Internet addiction(Social networking addiction and gaming addiction).Overparenting parents who have a higher attachment relationship with their children reduce the likelihood of their children becoming addicted to the Internet;(2)Basic psychological needs and autonomy needs play a mediating role in over-parenting and Social networking addiction;autonomy needs play a mediating role in over-parenting and gaming addiction.Over-parenting parents will damage children’s basic psychological needs(especially autonomy needs),teenagers who basic psychological needs have not been better met have more Internet addiction behavior;(3)Parentchild attachment and autonomy needs play a chain mediating role in over-parenting and gaming addiction.Over-parenting parents take good care of their children and form a high degree of parent-child attachment,which helps meet the basic psychological needs of children and reduces the risk of addiction to online games;(4)The mechanisms behind social networking addiction and gaming addiction are different.The harm of over-parenting on Internet addiction can be weakened through the effects of parent-child attachment and autonomy needs.For social networking addiction,it is mainly to enhance parent-child attachment;For gaming addiction,it is the first way to satisfy children’s need for autonomy. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Over-Parenting, Social networking addiction, Gaming addiction, Parent-child attachment, Basic psychological needs, Autonomy needs | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
