Andrew Wise is a very famous American watercolor painter in the 20 th century.Even today,his story is still spread in this part of China,affecting people from generation to generation.His paintings are different from the mainstream American abstract art paintings in the 20 th century.Some people say that he is a realist painter,others say that he is an American nostalgia painter,while he himself says that he is an abstract painter,but no matter which school can represent him completely.Most of his works are mainly separated from realism,surrealism and magic realism.In the first chapter,this paper takes emotional metaphor in Wise’s paintings as the main research object,analyzes the emotional relationship between Wise and his father,and analyzes Wise’s works from the perspectives of life and death,love and homesickness,and finally analyzes the painting language form of Andrew Wise’s emotional metaphor.As a professional master,the author has been thinking about the painting form language behind the emotional expression of Wise’s pictures.By analyzing the formal language and metaphorical techniques such as composition,color and light in Wise’s paintings,the author summarizes how these techniques help Wise express his emotions,and finally applies them in the author’s creation.In addition,through research,we know that Wise has placed many thoughts about life in his paintings,which also inspired the author’s creative thinking.In the second chapter of this paper,the author thought and created from three perspectives: metaphor of life,temperature of friendship,present and future.
