The original text Mangroves for Building Resilience to Climate Change is a field manual, which contains detailed information about many aspects of mangroves, and it belongs to informative text.According to Peter Newmark’s Text Typology, informative texts are characterized by complex contents, diverse sentence patterns and obvious coherence in grammar and meaning. Therefore, the translator chooses Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory to guide the translation practice, and then summarizes the translation methods of informative texts from three aspects: lexical level, syntactic level and textual level. At lexical level, the translation methods of addition, omission and conversion are used to analyze the translation of specific words. At syntactic level, the translator applies the translation methods of inversion, division and conversion to adjust the sentence structure of the translated text. And at textual level, the methods of restoration of pronouns and addition of connectives are employed to improve the consistency and coherence of the target text, thus improving the fluency and readability of the target text.
