The Revelation Of The Female "Resident" Image In Yan Geling’s Immigration Novels To Sino-american Cross-cultural Communication

Under the background of globalization,with the deepening of exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States,Sino-US cross-cultural communication activities are also increasing.Overseas Chinese novels,as a kind of literary subject that tells and records the life of overseas Chinese,are of great value in the study of cross-cultural communication between China and foreign countries.Yan Geling is a very famous Chinese woman writer.Her new immigrant novels have a great influence at home and abroad.In her novels,many immigrant women who are "residents" encounter various difficulties in the process of cross-cultural communication.Taking these difficulties as cases of cross-cultural communication research is a novel and valuable attempt for the study of Sino-American cross-cultural communication.The introduction introduces the reason and basis of the topic selection of this paper,and summarizes the research status of Yan Geling at home and abroad,in order to clarify the research focus and blind spots of Yan Geling,at the same time expounds the research purpose and research methods of this paper.The first chapter defines "host",and through the reading of Yan Geling’s immigration novels,summarizes the image characteristics of female "host" in different periods and the survival predicament they face,and points out the cross-cultural conflicts they face in the process of cross-cultural communication.The second chapter,on the basis of the text of the novel,uses linguistics and intercultural communication theory to deeply analyze and explore the reasons and influencing factors behind the dilemma of female "hostesses" in the process of intercultural communication from the three aspects of linguistic communication,cultural value and interpersonal relationship.The third chapter analyzes and explores the enlightenment of female "hostesses" in Yan Geling’s immigrant novels to Sino-American cross-cultural communication in the new era,which is mainly reflected in two aspects: improving the cross-cultural communication ability of Chinese immigrants and strengthening the Chinese language teaching in the United States.In the conclusion part,the author thinks that the female "resident" image in Yan Geling’s new immigrant novels has typical characteristics in the aspects of psychology,cultural values and identity in American social life.On this basis,some inspirations and understandings are summarized to promote the cross-cultural communication between China and the United States and the study of Yan Geling’s works.
