Report On The Application Of Parallel Texts In Comprehensive Text Translation Based On CEA Framework

Covid-19 has made a significant impact on the carbon dioxide emission,and also has changed the global economy and energy situation dramatically.China is characterized with low traditional energy per capita share and energy utilization rate.Under such circumstances,it is necessary to improve energy utilization,promote clean production,and accelerate the development of stable and efficient new energy industries.It is extremely urgent to deepen the understanding of current global energy and environment.Therefore,the E-C translation of the energy and environment report is indispensable.This translation practice is intended to provide valuable reference materials for energy and environment stakeholders.This translation report is based on the translation of Global Energy Review 2021 published by the International Energy Agency in April 2021.This report introduces the way of energy use and carbon dioxide emissions in 2021.According to text typology,it is a comprehensive text.It is a type of both English of Science and Technology(EST)as well as authoritative report.Therefore,the translator should convey the information,and express the views of the original text faithfully and accurately.The translator needs to understand the relevant background,master terminologies,and ensure logic and coherence to produce a readable translation for relevant personnel.In the process of translation,the translator summarizes the common problems in light of “comprehension,expression and adaptation” based on the framework of CEA proposed by Professor Li Changshuan,and discusses how to guarantee translation quality by using parallel texts with numerous examples.This report is divided into four parts.The first part briefly introduces the selection of source text,the significance of translation and language characteristics;The second part introduces the translation process in detail.The third part is a case study,which summarizes common problems in translation from the three levels of “Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation(CEA)”,and discusses the guidance of parallel texts.The fourth part is conclusion,which summarizes the experience of translation practice and relevant enlightenment.
