A Study On The Singing Of Pumi Folk Song “Gehi”

Pumi is one of the few ethnic groups in China with a long history and ancient culture.Pumi folk song is a kind of Pumi traditional folk art,mainly used in People’s Daily entertainment,festival customs,production and life and other scenes.Pumi people pay attention to entertainment and love singing and dancing.They have rich musical forms,a large number of musical works and unique ethnic instruments.Besides,it has close contacts with the neighboring Naxi,Bai,Yi and Mosuo people,and has a strong tolerance for foreign cultures and diversified musical styles.Pumi folk song singing belongs to the "original ecology" singing method,rich works,diverse styles,has a strong Pumi characteristics.This article used the classification of folk songs of the reference is Mr Hai-tao Yin in an introduction to the primi music is divided into three major categories,10 class,according to the ethnic title and have long formed in the folk song kind of concept,"li","Guo" respectively,"hey" three categories."Gehi" discussed in this paper is a kind of "singing loudly" song in Pumi folk songs,with high tones,melodious tunes and refined lyrics.It is the most popular folk song category among Pumi people.It is subordinate to three sub-categories: "Ah Ha Ba la"(mountain songs),"Ah Liao liao"(driving horses)and "Ah Zhuili"(love songs).This paper will take the results of field investigation in Labo Township and Cuiyu Township,Ninglang County,Lijiang City,Yunnan Province: Three corresponding songs "Yaha Ba La","Driving a Horse Tune" and "Love Song" are taken as examples from Pumi folk artists and non-genetic inheritants.Based on the author’s own singing experience,the singing method of Pumi folk songs is systematically analyzed from the perspectives of vocal methods,singing skills,and the application of soft tone.It includes the vocal methods of the ethnic language,the vocal skills involving the true falsetto,the processing methods of the high and low tones in Pumi’s original ecological singing,as well as how to use the skills of the ethnic singing to sing Pumi folk songs,and the embodiment and application of the power type and rhythm type of "Characteristic singing cavity".This paper aims to analyze the singing methods and characteristics of Pumi "Gehey" folk songs,and enrich the cultural form of Pumi music.With the purpose of cultural inheritance,protection,development and innovation,combined with modern aesthetics and new media methods,this paper lists some feasible innovation and development suggestions and tries to create some works based on the author’s own experience.
