Investigation And Research On The Cross-cultural Adaptation Of International Students In Kunming During The Epidemic Period

Since the end of 2019,due to the spread of COVID-19,the study and life of international students in China have been affected,resulting in different degrees of cultural adaptability.Based on the actual situation of international students in Kunming since the outbreak of the epidemic and my own experience,this paper formulated a questionnaire and an outline of interviews to investigate the cultural adaptation of international students in Kunming,and discuss the adaptation status of the group in culture,daily life and study,the existing problems and their reasons.This paper makes the questionnaire and interview outline of cultural adaptation,mainly to investigate the adaptability of culture,daily life and study from February 2020 to June 2022(during the epidemic situation).The SPSS software is used to sort out and analyze the data of the questionnaire and the interview survey.The study found that,the problems in cultural adaptation are: low satisfaction and low participation in cultural activities.The problems in life adaptation are as follows: most respondents believe that the epidemic has an impact on the daily life of international students,and the difficulties faced by international students during the epidemic period are valued,understood and helped by the outside world.The problems in learning adaptation are: low interest and quality of different gender and age;overall learning adaptation tends to be low level;the international education level of some universities in Kunming needs to be improved.The problems in the prevention and epidemic adaptation are: it does not adapt to the attitude of Kunming local people to foreigners;the lack of awareness of international students leads to negative emotions such as anti-"epidemic prevention regulations";and raise the question of the service level of international logistics support of the university.Therefore,this paper gives some suggestions based on the research results.International students need to study extensively to improve their cultural understanding,increase their contact opportunities with local cultural customs,recognize and accept the stage performance of "cross-cultural adaptation",and relieve the pressure through effective channels.During the epidemic period,teachers should pay close attention to the psychological changes of overseas students,teach students according to the appropriate people and their aptitude,strengthen Chinese language education for overseas students to improve their cultural understanding,integrate resources and channels to improve the education effect and increase the participation of overseas students in online and offline classes.The school administrative department needs to implement a fair and just epidemic prevention policy and a simplified school epidemic prevention and monitoring process,give full play to the incentive role of the scholarship,improve the level of humanized management and hardware and software facilities,and provide cross-cultural stage psychological education and counseling services for overseas students.The above suggestions hope to improve the cross-cultural adaptability and cross-cultural satisfaction of international students in Kunming,so that the group can better balance the pressure between life,epidemic prevention and study,so as to better complete their studies.
