| It has been more than three years since the outbreak began and the Chinese people have experienced and accepted the normal life in the post-epidemic era,from strict vaccination control to grid management At the same time,the impact on Chinese people’s psychology and work and life under the background of the epidemic cannot be ignored,especially for middle-aged and elderly individuals.During the outbreak of infectious diseases,their psychological reaction on the role and influence of rumor identification,economic situation and death consciousness on individual behavior is worth exploring Therefore,this paper conducted a preliminary analysis of middle-aged and elderly individuals during the epidemic: death anxiety and money priming were included as mediating and moderating variables to explore the impact of multiple variables on rumor belief.The first study explored the relationship between death prominence and rumors and beliefs through questionnaire survey.A total of 120 valid samples were selected and questionnaires were distributed to middle-aged and elderly individuals in many regions of China.The mental health scale,death prominence scale and rumor and belief scale were used to explore the influence of death prominence on rumor and belief.In study 2,260 middle-aged and elderly subjects were enrolled in a 2×2 design.SPSS macro program Process3.3 was used for moderated mediation analysis of the data to further test the relationship between variables.In this study,we found that :(1)compared with neutral salience,death salience manipulation significantly increased participants’ rumor belief level.(2)Death anxiety was the mediating variable of death salience influencing rumor belief,that is,death salience influenced rumor belief by influencing death anxiety.(3)Monetary priming played a significant positive moderating role in the effect of death salience on death anxiety,that is,the higher the degree of monetary priming,the greater the impact of death salience on death anxiety.(4)The mechanism of death salience on rumor belief is a moderated mediation model in which money priming is the moderating variable and death anxiety is the mediating variable.That is,in the context of death salience,individual money priming will enhance the influence of death salience on death anxiety,and then increase individual rumor belief. |
