| Brick murals are one of the main forms of burial decoration in ancient China,which is not only a reflection of the funeral culture,but also a reflection of the living customs and religious beliefs at that time.There are many decorative images in the brick and mural tombs of the Song and Jin Yuan dynasties in Gansu province,which are indispensable parts of the brick and mural tombs.Animal images,occupy a large proportion in the tomb decoration of Song,Jin and Yuan dynasties,and are also one of the objects to study the decoration of brick murals of Song and Jin and Yuan Dynasties in Gansu.In this paper,through collecting and sorting out the brick mural tombs containing animal images in Gansu,on this basis,about 87 brick mural tombs containing animal images are counted.Based on the above data,combined with the relevant literature and historical materials,the animal images in the brick murals of Song,Jin and Yuan dynasties in Gansu were systematically studied.Animal images in brick murals by Song,Jin and Yuan dynasties in Gansu are abundant and have a wide range of themes.According to the different forms of combination,they can be divided into four categories: Animal images combined with human figures,animal images combined with plants,animal images appearing alone,and other types of animal images,among which animal images appear alone are the main ones.In addition,in the brick murals of the Song,Jin and Yuan dynasties in Gansu,the paintings of Qylin,phoenix bird,dragon pattern and Zhu Finch,etc.,reflect people’s wishes for the world after death.The emergence of a more immediate map,horse map,camel map also reflects the side of the people’s common way of traveling at that time;The deer bit lotus flower,pegasus figure,flying deer figure and so on reflected people’s life and death concept at that time.These images of animals in brick murals have a lot of meanings.They reflect the social economy,auspicious meanings and funeral customs of people at that time under the background of cultural integration in the Song,Jin and Yuan dynasties in Gansu.The animal images in the brick murals have a lot of meanings,which is a reflection of the social life,funeral customs and immoralities of people at that time under the background of cultural integration in the Song,Jin and Yuan dynasties in Gansu. |
