Research On The Visual Image Design Of Animals In Dunhuang Murals

The animal images in Dunhuang murals are an important component of Dunhuang mural art,possessing rich cultural significance and diverse visual effects.This article takes Dunhuang mural animal images as the research object and,from the perspective of design,conducts a comprehensive analysis through literature research,image analysis,and interdisciplinary research to fully explore their unique artistic features and cultural connotations.It also examines the current development status and existing problems of Dunhuang mural animal images in modern design,and explores methods and paths for innovative visual image design to better promote the development and application of Dunhuang mural animal images in modern design.Firstly,this article overall summarizes and categorizes the historical origins of Dunhuang mural animal images and their distribution and functional analysis in murals of different themes.The animal images are classified into divine beasts,walking beasts,and birds based on their shape and characteristics,and representative animal images are selected for extraction and analysis.Then,based on the different line sculpting features of animal images,they are divided into three categories: "expressive summarization," "balanced control and depiction," and "vivid depiction of reality." On the level of visual representation,the article analyzes the regular representation and artistic expression of animal images in Dunhuang murals from aspects such as composition,coloring features,and changes in form.It also explores the aesthetic connotations of animal images from different perspectives such as "the charm of auspiciousness," "the beauty of movement," and "the beauty of dance."Secondly,the article analyzes the current status of the application of Dunhuang mural animal images in design,starting from cultural and creative design and brand collaboration design.Combined with the existing design cases and relevant audience surveys in the market,the article summarizes the existing problems in the current design and application of Dunhuang mural animal images and proposes principles that should be followed in modern design,such as "creating a layout through innovative ideas," "integrating the characteristics of the times," and "dynamic inheritance of traditional culture." Based on the theory of cultural three levels,the article constructs innovative strategies for cultural and creative design of Dunhuang mural animal images from different dimensions of "external," "middle," and "internal," namely,"innovative visual forms," "enriching and extending forms," and "mining internal culture," to enhance the aesthetic value and cultural cognition of Dunhuang mural animal images in contemporary society.Finally,based on the theoretical construction of innovative methods for the visual design of Dunhuang mural animal images,the article carries out design practice by creating the "Lingwuzhiyu" cultural and creative brand and constructing a brand visual image system.The design elements are extracted from the two major themes of Dunhuang mural story painting and sutra painting,and the expression technique of illustration art is adopted to condense the elements of animal image form,color,composition,etc.,and integrate them with modern design concepts and styles.Through the application of cultural and creative design,the article strengthens the artistic expression of Dunhuang mural animal images and enhances their corresponding cultural and commercial values,thus revitalizing Dunhuang mural animal images in the context of modern society.
